Gary S. Kirman, OD

Gary S. Kirman, OD

The son of Dr. Shahane and Janet Kirman, Gary was born and raised in Hummelstown, PA. Sharing his father’s interest in optometry, he earned a B.S. in Biology at Lafayette College (1982) and received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (1986). Since earning his doctorate, Dr. Kirman has earned many awards and national recognition within his field. He has served through the chairs of the Central Pennsylvania Optometric Society and was the first optometrist to receive the “Young Optometrist of the year award” from the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. Since 2014, Dr. Kirman has been a Key Opinion Leader for MacuLogix and is one of the only twenty KOL’s for MacuLogix in the nation. Dr. Kirman has spoken about early detection of Macular Degeneration at conferences in the U.S and abroad. He is also on Johnson and Johnson’s Contact Lens Speakers Bureau.

Dr. Kirman is also passionate about changing the way people think about their eye care. He is leading other eye care professionals in a new direction for patient care that benefits patients everywhere. Although he has a busy professional life, Dr. Kirman has always found time to support those in need. He was a member of two mission teams that provided eye care to the people of Dominica and Belize. While there, Dr. Kirman helped the teams deliver needed routine eye care, post-operative eye care, treatment of eye disease, and dispensing of spectacles to the people in these two countries.

Outside of the office, Dr. Kirman spends time with his wife Jodi, and their four children, Phillip, Joshua, Nathanael, and Olivia. He enjoys boating, water skiing, hunting, snow skiing, and is an active member of his church.

Dr Baer

Stephen D. Baer, OD

Dr. Stephen Baer attended Juniata College where he earned his B.S. in Pre-Medicine/Biology (1991).  He went on to earn is O.D. at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (1995). Dr. Baer joined Kirman Eye in 1995, where he specializes in primary eye care, contact lenses and ocular disease. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the Central Pennsylvania Optometric Society, serving as President from 2003-2004.  Dr. Baer was named “Young Optometrist of the Year” by his colleagues in 2000 and later received the “Optometrist of the Year” award in 2004.

Dr. Baer enjoys his work and has a strong interest in ocular disease and specialty contact lenses.   He enjoys sharing his knowledge of optometry by serving as a preceptor for 3rd and 4th year externs from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry while they finish their clinical rotations.

Over the years, Dr. Baer has remained active in the community coaching baseball, providing numerous vision screenings and providing care to the elderly in local nursing homes.  Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife,  Julie and their two sons, Tyler and Connor.  He has a passion for golf, is an avid hockey fan, and enjoys hunting and fishing.

Drue A. Bahajak, OD

Drue A. Bahajak, OD

Dr. Drue Bahajak was born and raised in Middletown, PA and attended Bishop McDevitt High School. She continued her education at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA, earning her B.S in Biology and minor in Chemistry, graduating summa cum laude. In May 2016, Dr. Bahajak graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, obtaining her Doctor of Optometry degree. While attending Optometry school, she spent one of her clinical rotations at Kirman Eye, learning under the guidance of Dr. Kirman and Dr. Baer.  In October 2016, Dr. Bahajak joined Kirman Eye. She specializes in primary eye care, ocular disease, and contact lenses.

Currently, Dr. Bahajak is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Optometric Society, Pennsylvania Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Harrisburg Young Professionals. Dr. Bahajak has a passion for helping others and volunteers her time by performing screenings for athletes participating in the Pennsylvania Special Olympics. She is a member of the Alumni Council at LVC, where she also speaks to health profession students about Optometry.

In her spare time, Dr. Bahajak enjoys spending time with family and friends.  She loves to ski, kayak, and travel, especially to the Caribbean and Walt Disney World.  She also enjoys playing softball and is a member of a women’s slow-pitch softball team.

Prajay Patel, OD

Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor of Science in Life Science and Master’s in Biotechnology from Pennsylvania State University. He later continued on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at the highly acclaimed Salus University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Patel continued on to complete his residency at the Wilmington Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Having been a resident of Pennsylvania since 1998, Dr. Patel currently resides nearby with his wife. Outside of the office, Dr. Patel is an avid reader, enjoys watching sports, and playing tennis and is multilingual including English, Gujarati, and Hindi.

Dr. Patel completed an externship at Kirman Eye during his clinical rotations while in optometry school and now works at our office on Saturdays.
